Our Staff


President: Mike Stuart

A lifetime Lower Mainland resident, Mike graduated from UBC with both his Commerce and Law degrees and earned his Chartered Accountant's designation with an international accounting firm in the mid 1980's. Mike has a keen passion for both golf and tennis and feels fortunate to work with a dedicated and professional management team. When not at the golf course, you will likely find Mike either fishing, boating or making his next travel plans.


WCGG Regional General Manager: Troy Peverley

Troy started at Hazelmere in 1983. He graduated from UBC with a Commerce Degree with a Marketing Major. Troy's role with the West Coast Golf Group grew with the addition of Belmont Golf Course in 1999 and Swaneset Bay Resort & Country Club in 2006. Troy has been active with the PGA of BC and Canada and serves on the National Golf Course Owners Association BC Advisory Board. In addition to a passion for golf Troy enjoys all activities with his son Trevor and daughter Nicole.


General Manager: Frank Fourchalk

Frank has been a part of the West Coast Golf Group team since 1998. Having grown up in South Surrey, some of his earliest memories involve celebrating special occasions in the Hazelmere Dining Room. Frank was promoted to the position of General Manager in 2013. Frank enjoys spending time with his family as well as golfing and working with computers.


Administrator: Dawn Beaton

A long-time resident of Langley City, formerly a resident of South Surrey, Dawn graduated from Earl Marriott Secondary. Dawn enjoys the role of Hockey, Soccer and Softball mom for her three children. When not busy at work Dawn can be found enjoying her time with family and friends. Dawn considers herself fortunate to work within a supportive and understanding management team allowing her a perfect balance with work and family.


Director of Golf: Tracy Matthews

Tracy returned back to the West Coast Golf Group in 2016 after previously working at Belmont Golf Course from 1999 to 2012 and is a Class A Member of the PGA of Canada. Tracy graduated with Honours from the Camosum College Professional Golf Management Program in 1999. Tracy enjoys golfing, skiing, traveling and spending time with family.


Assistant Golf Shop Manager: Austin Kao

Austin was born in Orange County California and moved to Langley at 11 years of age and has been golfing since the age of 8. After graduating from Walnut Grove Secondary, he attended the University of  Victoria. He began working in the Golf Industry at the age of 26. He worked at the Richmond Golf Town and went from a Sales Associate to Clubs Manager in just 3 years. Austin has a vast knowledge in club fittings and can handle any of your golf club repairs.

PGA Associate Professional: Phil Jonas Jonas Golf Academy

Philip grew up in South Africa before immigrating to Canada in 1989. Phil won the South African Junior three times and the World Junior twice. Phil is a former PGA Tour member and a three time PGA of BC Player of the year. Phil loves teaching golfers of all levels from tour player to beginner. When not teaching, Phil can be found watching his kids at the ice rink or playing golf with them at Hazelmere.

PGA Associate Professional: Patty Jonas Jonas Golf Academy

Before turning professional in 1985 Patty was twice the B.C. Women's Amateur Champion, and twice the #1 ranked player in Canada with spots on 5 Canadian National Teams, including the World Amateur Championship. Since then she has played on the European Women's Professional Tour until teaching stole her heart. While Patty has won several Professional tournaments, including 3 PGA of BC Championships, she can mostly be found on the practice range instructing new and long time students. After 25 years of teaching, Patty enjoys helping all levels of golfer - adult or junior, beginner or advanced, in a private or group setting - but specializes in playing lessons to lower your scores.


Head Tennis Professional: Peter Knispel

Peter grew up in South Australia and then moved to Canada in his early teens. Most of Peter's tennis was played in the lower mainland where he was ranked in the top five juniors in BC. Peter attended Miami Dade South College on a tennis scholarship. Peter turned pro in 1978 and played the USTA Pro Penn circuit in Florida and Italian Satellite circuit. Peter coached for 34 years and is a NCCP/TPA certified teaching professional and a BCRPA certified personal trainer.

Event Coordinator: Arian Laurin

Arian spent four years in the restaurant industry while attending Douglas College and studying Hospitality Management and is broadened her studies into Wedding and Event Planning and Wedding Design with the QC Event Planning School. Arian began working at Hazelmere during Spring of 2018 as a Banquet Captain and was quickly promoted to Event Coordinator. Arian is able to help people fulfill their vision of their BIG day from beginning to end, ensuring everything is perfect down to the smallest detail. When not at work she can be found outdoors anytime of the year; snowboarding, gardening or sitting on the patio with friends and family.

Regional Superintendent: James Muter

Born and raised in the Lower Mainland, James developed a passion for golf from an early age playing junior golf at Quilchena Golf and Country Club.  James received a diploma in Turfgrass Management from Kwantlen college and a Turfgrass certificate from UBC.  After years of experience at Richmond Country Club, James joined the WCGG where he currently oversees Hazelmere and Belmont.  When not out on the golf course James enjoys training and competing in triathlons.




Lead Hand: Jim Whyte

Jim joined the turf maintenance crew at Hazelmere in March of 2008. He was quickly able to become an integral part of our organization as a result of his hard work and dedication to the job. Jim has a keen passion for the game of golf, which is reflected in his work, in fact when he is not working he is often out on the course testing the conditions. Jim’s enthusiasm, positive attitude and willingness to help others make him a valuable addition to our team. Jim was selected as employee of the year for 2009.
